PipesLine #5-09

Greetings:

It seems like winter just keeps dragging along, as soon as one snow starts melting, a new one drops in.  Just yesterday we had upwards to 8” in slightly over 3 hours.

These past few weeks I have been busy recruiting for summer camps.  I have talked with a lot of interested folks.  Some have made commitments and others are still in the “need time to think and pray about it” mode.

One response I have heard consistently lately is concerning the economics of our days, loss of 401’s, jobs and so on.., and yes those are real situations that affect many dear friends and others. The economic status of our country has led many people to respond to missions by saying, isn’t it better we send over materials to help those in foreign countries to do the work themselves.”  If we are to teach English then send over a laptop with ESL software.  If it is a medical camp send over some supplies and send out the African doctor. If it is a discipleship camp, send over study tools and Bibles.

However if we consider all the factors, I believe we will realize that missions have so much more worth, than just supplying the materials.  What I mean is this, how much is your presence worth? The love of Jesus flowing directly through you, do we dare put a price tag on that?  It is easy to go when things are good and life is uncomplicated, but it is a sacrifice to respond to the call of missions when it is difficult.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.  Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

 Prayer Needs:

March1:       Presentation of the African ministry

March 5-8:  Off to Missouri to train a team going to Uganda, March 28-April 10.

March 15:    Preaching at Fellowship Bible Church, Pierz, MN.

March 28:    leave for Uganda.

For the month of March I will be preparing 20+ hours of teaching on the “Prosperity Gospel.”  I will be sharing the material on my trip to Uganda on March 28-April 10. This false Gospel is sweeping away many throughout Uganda.  I hope to be able to help our co-workers battle this perversion of the truth. If any of you know of some good reading on this subject please let me know.

Also be praying for our recruitment for summer camps.

Blessings,

John
