PipesLine #30-09

Greetings:
As so many other PipesLine updates this one also is written on an airplane.  I am on my way home from a mission conference that was held at Taylor University, Upland, Indiana.
I have attended this conference 4 out of the past 5 years.  As always, it was a real encouragement for me. I get to spend 3 days talking with “soon to be adults” about missions.  In addition, I get to learn about other mission agencies that are serving the Lord throughout the world.
A few of the students I talked with were interested in our internship program and others in the medical outreaches to Uganda. We will be waiting to see how the Lord will use my time there.
In addition to the mission conference, I had a meeting with some folks from a church close to Taylor.  Their Church sent a medical team last year to Uganda. Afterwards one of the team members came across our web site, Uganda Missions.  We stared sharing information about our experiences. Now we are prayerfully considering partnering up this coming summer for a medical outreach in Uganda.

New Staff to Uganda:
I have some great news; “IM” Uganda has a new staff missionary to Uganda.  You may recall reading about Kostya sometime last winter in the PipesLine.  Kostya is from Odessa, Ukraine.  He served as an intern from “International Messengers Seaside Missionary Training Center,” Odessa, Ukraine to Uganda last January until June.  Since then he has raised the needed support to return as a missionary to Uganda.  What a joy it is for all of us at International Messengers to be part of sending missionaries as a result of our ministry in other countries.  We will have staff information posted on Kostya’s ministry soon at Uganda Missions
In the next couple of weeks, I will be sending my final PipesLine for 2009.  The main focus of the newsletter will be addressing on our needs for the Busanna church building project and land purchase. In regards to the church building project, I am excited to share with you that, they have torn down the mud church building in Kasnana, and have started digging the foundation for the new brick building.  Perhaps I can ask you to already be praying, asking the Lord if this is something He might want you to be part of financially.

Prayer Support:…as you help us by your prayers.  Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many. 2 Corinthians 1:11
The recruitment and details for the 2010 camps to Uganda and other countries.
Kostya’s move and adjustment to full time ministry in Uganda.
For the church in Indiana as they seek the Lord’s will in partnering with “IM in our Medical Outreach.
For Pastor James in Busanna as he trains new leaders for the growing churches in the area. And for over-seeing the church building projects in Busanna district.
For Dan and Loring Morris and family in Kampala, as they seek to finalize details for the non profit organization (NGO) they are establishing in Uganda

Worthy News Flashes from Uganda (New addition to the PipesLine Email Update)
Taken from the Ugandan daily paper, “New Vision”

KAMULI-A Muslim Bodaboda cyclist, only identified as Sula tickled residents to laughter when he arrested a pig he had knocked. The incident happened at Nakabira village along Nabirumba – Buyende road last week.
The animal abruptly crossed the road and collided with the motorcycle. On noticing he had sustained bruises and that the bike’s headlamp was broken, Sula grabbed the animal by its rear leg, shouting: “Nnaani mwene mbiidhi eno. Ampe obwidhandabi agule n’eitaala lyange?” meaning, “Who is the owner of this pig? I want him to give me treatment and buy my lamp.”
The owner came and apologized but the cyclist demanded sh25,000,(around $13) which was paid before he could release the animal.

Women leave party over co-wife

MASAKA-THERE was confusion at Hajji Abdu Kiyimba’s home in Lubanda Kisekka sub-county, when his wives abandoned a party after he introduced his third wife.

Kiyimba had organized a farewell party for his two wives, who are travelling to Mecca mid November. When Kiyimba stood up to address the gathering, he introduced Haliima Nakimuli as the elder wife of twelve years. He then introduced Hafswa Kiyimba, the second wife, who was seated next to Halima.

He, however, asked both wives to look behind them to see the third wife. “She is Qudra Kiyimba and has a one-year-old baby,” Kiyimba said.

The women, who had not known about their co-wife, stood up, one by one and left the function before Kiyimba could finish his speech, in which he promised to get a fourth wife.
