MUM/PipesLine Email Update 03-11

The rain season has continued for a few weeks longer than normal. For many, it is good. The local farmers--especially in the Busanna area--expect a more abundant yield than normal. The corn, beans, peanuts, pineapple, and many other crops will help many families for the next 6 months. Almost all crops have two seasons.

As good is that is for many, it is little compared to the raining of the Holy Spirit. We have seen consistently each week new believers coming forward to confess faith in Christ. The church in Busanna is showing signs of steady growth, not only with new believers but also in the maturing of believers. Your prayers for us have results. Please continue to keep the church in Busanna in your prayers.

The progress on the interns for the start of the mission training is now at number four. As soon as we have the six confirmed, I will be sending out a brief bio so you can join us in praying for them during their internship.

The meeting with the church last Sunday in Kampala went very well. Pastor Bill made a strong impression on us with his desire to be a missionary church. One young man from his church will be part of the mission training.

The purity ministry finished up its first 16 week follow-up group. In reality, it took longer than 16 weeks. I think it was more like 20 weeks. Eight of the 13 participants finished. This coming week we will have a banquet and certificate ceremony. Please continue to pray for these men as they have joined the ranks of “men making changes for the glory of God.”

On last update is the Bible study I do each week at Cool Breeze Hotel in Jinja. What joy this small group is for me! These four have grown up in a very religious background. However, as I often saw in Poland, they were lacking understanding of grace and faith. I can see that something is happening: they come ready, with Bibles, and they have read the Scripture beforehand. Also, the have excellent questions. For example   ? Many churches say they are the best and or only church for Christians. How can I know for sure? How can I know someone is telling the truth when they are preaching? A portion of my response to those questions went something like this; Grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Learn the truth from the scriptures. And test everything according to the Word of God. Now for the last two studies one of the employees, the manager, who is Muslim, sits off to the side around the corner and listens to us the entire time. I have openly spoken with him and told him I am ready to discuss and answer any question he might have.

On December 16 I will be headed back to the States for Christmas. This has been planned since I arrived back in June. My plan is to be in Minnesota up until a few days before Christmas. Then I will head to California to be with my mother and family. Then I would like to go to North Carolina to be with Weronika, Wojtek, and Agnieszka. How certain it is that we can all get together is not clear. Everybody wants to be together, but because of work schedules and advanced pregnancies, it might not be possible. But we are trying.

My return to Uganda will be toward the end of January. During the month of January I hope to visit as many supporters as I possibly am able to. Nothing has been set in stone so far. So I am open to making plans if you have a desire to hear more about the ministry in Uganda.

Thank you from pastors Moses and James and myself for your willingness to stand with us in the ministry. What a joy it is knowing we all share the same purpose, a result of us being “in Christ” as one.
