Adjustment:
After a few rounds of cipro, and other antibiotics, and getting 20 lbs lighter, everything is going well. The antibiotics were to take care of an infection in my gums and the missing 20 pounds is result of eating less. I guess that’s a perk to eating foreign food!
Medical Camp Recap:
It is so difficult to put all the wonderful news of the outreach into a few concise paragraphs, so many lives where touched by the love of Christ. Certainly the quality of life was upgraded by the team offering free medical care to all. Many children were given special attention for all sorts of tropical medical problems including treatment for worms, scabies’, skin problems and general wound care. Meeting these basic physical needs was hugely impactful and opened doors for the gospel.
As good as the medical attention was for so many; it was the spiritual impact that has the real lasting value. I can’t say with certainty how many decisions for Christ were made. But for sure there were individuals who made the decision to cross from death to life. In addition, every individual, which was 300+ who came for medical attention, were also given Spiritual attention and had the good news presented to them, so seeds were planted.
One last aspect worthy of sharing, is the number of Islamic woman who came for medical attention. A group of women who were all wives to the same man came from a neighboring village that is predominately Muslim. These women heard the gospel message and were invited to a weekly women’s Bible Study.
Now What IS On The Burner?
Two of the medical team members will be staying in Uganda for more than a month. Both are nurses and will be following up medically and spiritually with those we saw during the medical outreach. From August 14-19 Pastor Moses and I will travel to the east region to conduct a purity conference. This is the first one that is being organized by a prior participant of the purity conference last March.
From August 23-29 I will take a flight to Germany to visit my Daughter Nathalie and the Grandkids. Starting in September I will be walking through the process of getting the mission training school ready for the first class. The scheduled starting date is January 15, 2012.
The process of starting the mission school will involve a lot of interviews, traveling, and prayer. We are asking the Lord to bring 6 individuals that are saying, “Here am I, send me.” By September I will have a detailed prayer guide for us that will have more information on the process.
Also we are making a change in the ministry description. For the past 9 years we have identified the ministry in Uganda as the “Uganda Project.” Starting the first of September will now identify the ministry as “MUM” Mobilizing Uganda for Missions. Also in September, we will provide you with the purpose and vision statement of MUM. To avoid confusion, let me explain that MUM is just an identity for the Ugandan ministry. My organizational affiliation remains with and accountable to International Messengers. This reminds me that I am coming to my 20th year serving the Lord with International Messengers. How time flies.
Thank you for your continue prayer and financial support. Please feel free to email or call, I’d love to hear from you.
Blessings,
John
